Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire Foundation finances social projects in
Africa. Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire sets aside up to 1% of the group’s
profits after tax to support project initiatives of the
foundation.
Concept
The Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire foundation is managed as a business. Its main focus is to
give back or contribute effectively towards the society in which the
bank operates. The major financiers of the foundation's activities are
the Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire and other international Non-Governmental
Organisations. The projects and programmes of the Foundation are
selected with the view of fostering regional integration.
Objectives
- To project Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire as a responsible and caring corporate citizen
- To assist communities and certain underprivileged groups to enhance their livelihoods.
- To encourage creativity and excellence among Africans.
- To foster integration within the region

The Foundation is focused on
education, women, children, health, scientific research, and
socio-cultural activities. Since inception, it has supported and funded
over 28 projects in Africa to the tune of over US$600,000. These are
projects with the potential to impact on the lives of very poor
Africans. Projects funded by the Foundation include the provision of
meals to the hungry and deprived children. The provision of treated
mosquito nets and drugs for the treatment and prevention of diseases
including malaria, tuberculoses and HIV/AIDS is part of the package.
Through
the Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire Foundation, we provided computers and learning aids to various African
communities. Through our internal and external
training and development programmes, we are increasing the banking
talent pool in Africa.
In Côte d'Ivoire, Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire
partnered with the National AIDS Awareness Campaign to open centres in
universities to educate the youths on AIDS. Currently the bank operates 7
of such centres across Côte d'Ivoire.
The Export-Import Bank of Korea Côte d'Ivoire Foundation also supports
socio-cultural awareness, including the embryonic African film industry
and capacity building in entrepreneurial skills development. |
